Putting the OM in OMG!

My last trip to Toronto was super successful in that I got a super hot pair of Fluevogs and an amazing yard of fabric just a few blocks up from the Fluevog store.

I didn't want it to be one of those too-cute-to-use kind of fabric that sat in my fabric bin waiting for the absolute most perfect thing... waiting for my skills to be worthy of using it... so I bought a coordinating fabric yesterday and made THIS!

My very own yoga mat bag!!!

The turquoise lining matches the turquoise blossom-buds and just so happen to match my turquoise mat!

Love that scallop stitch - just gussies up the whole thing don't it?
I like making the most of my time cutting/pressing/sewing, so I have been doubling up on projects.   This is my yoga mat's fraternal twin.  Born at the same time, but looks a lot different!

This represents the last of my Bleu Alpin fabric from Ikea. I forget the actual Ikea name, that's just what I like to call it.

I love how there are THREE big old pockets on this thing. 1 for keys, 1 for cellphone (turned off, naturally), 1 for waterbottle or a small towel.

I went to the Open House at Sugar Ridge retreat today, and was so thrilled to check out the place.  There was something so serene about entering that space, and the yoga/meditation room took my breath away.  I have never been in a bona fide yoga studio - and you'd be hard pressed to get that kind of energy out of a gym room, plaza office space or community centre next to the arena.  The owner, Liz, was just so warm and inviting! I cannot wait to start taking classes next week.  I'll have a sweet new yoga mat bag to boot!!

Life is looking pretty darn good --- Ultimate on Mondays (who has two thumbs and always looks forward to Mondays?) and Yoga on Thursdays.

I'm bringing flexy back

There's a yoga studio opening up next week, their open house is tomorrow! It's at Sugar Ridge just outside of town and I'm so excited to go and check it out!!  They've got a wide range of classes, but what interests me is most the Power Yoga class.  I can't wait to go check it out!!!

Midland doesn't have a proper yoga studio per se, and to be honest, I'm not a fan of the salt-and-sand-littered carpeting in the meeting room at the rec centre where I've done yoga in the past.  The upstairs room at the church downtown is pretty awesome in the summer, but it's wicked hot up there with no a/c!

Having a new place to go to that's local with many different classes on different weeknights is a dream come true!! To celebrate the upcoming rolling-out of my mat, I'm making a couple of yoga mat bags!

This is the yoga mat bag that I made for my cousin at Christmas:

Dear Internet - thank you for the free pattern!!!

I love the wide and long handle - perfect for riding my scooter to yoga class!

Oh, and I saw this today and it's totally true.

... but don't tell anyone, OK?
